For this week, I was able to complete the Main Menu (With placeholder characters for now) along with fixing some issues with the Main Menu's background animations. The idea of the Main Menu concept was originally from Hai Yun. But since Hai Yun has other backgrounds to work, I took the initiative to help her out. I took the parts of her design and stylized it more with our main colour scheme. Then, we select appropriate typography to use for the title. The team came to the conclusion that Caveat Brush looks the best out of some other typographies like Permanent Marker, Leckerli & Merienda.

I also took some inspiration from Doki Doki Literature Club to design the Title Layout & Visual Novel Logo. The Logo is designed to be a thought bubble resembling a brain with black brushstrokes behind to show creative control. The pink circles that move slowly in the background of Doki Doki Literature Club made the Visual Novel light-hearted and I did the same for our Main Menu.

When the game starts, I want the fade-in animations to be synchronized with the music but due to some limitations, I can only put the backgrounds in a certain order to make the transition smooth. It was a rather difficult and mildly infuriating bug that took plenty of my time but the results were worth it!

Next week, I'll help Hai Yun design the Save Screen & Load Screen as well as finalizing the story. I am also currently considering to change the background music to some other free-licensed music that caught my interest. I'll continue to update my progress for the next blog.
